The 90-acre Rainier Intermodal Facility is a fully integrated operation featuring a rail reload center, log yard, and marine terminal—each offering a range of specialized services.
Beyond the logs, additional acreage is dedicated to finished lumber trucked in for outbound shipment via our intermodal system. Teevin Bros. coordinates the transfer of this lumber onto barges docked at our terminal. We move approximately 14 million board feet of lumber every three weeks—enough to build 700 homes.
The terminal is also home to Sause Bros., a marine transportation company. In partnership with Teevin Bros. and Weyerhaeuser, we supply 16 million board feet of lumber monthly to Home Depot’s Long Beach, CA distribution center, supporting dozens of stores across Southern California.
Often referred to as the “hallmark” of log yards, Teevin Terminal draws regular visits from industry groups eager to observe our model of operational efficiency. They quickly recognize the seamless connection between truck, rail, and barge transportation—and the precision of our log decks, meticulously sorted by customer, grade, and size.
Trucks are unloaded and turned around in minutes. Rail car and barge operations run with the same speed, but at even greater volume. We’ve discharged over 4 million board feet from a single barge in under ten hours, with timber reloaded to outbound rail cars by the following day. Specialty timber destined for coastwise mills is also handled with speed, arriving by both truck and rail.
Since 2007, the Rainier log yard has processed nearly 10,000 rail cars annually, removing an estimated 35,000 truck trips from highways each year. Our fleet of well-maintained CAT full-load machines and log loaders, operated by experienced crews, drives throughout exceeding 167 million board feet annually.
